India — Goa, January–February 2026 (40 days)

Agonda beach in South Goa became home for the first two weeks. Cows dozed on the sand between the sunbeds, dogs padded along the waterline, and langur monkeys swung through the trees behind Bobby’s Bar. Every evening the sun dropped straight into the Arabian Sea while the beach shacks fired up their kitchens.

From Agonda the trip drifted south to Canacona, then back again. Halfway through, a day kayaking the mangrove backwaters put the coast out of sight entirely — just still water, reflections, and birdsong. A cooking class in a family kitchen turned into an afternoon of grinding spices and rolling chapatis. The finished thali was worth every bit of effort.

A rented scooter opened up the north. Red earth roads led to clifftop restaurants with views down the coast, the white churches of Old Goa, and the Panjim waterfront. An FC Goa match added some noise to the evenings. Vagator brought hilltop temples and night-time music drifting up from the beach.

The last few days in Arambol felt like a different Goa altogether. Rocky headlands, tidal pools, a pier stretching out over the lagoon, and sunsets where half the beach stopped to watch. Thirty-nine days, seven places, and not a single reason to rush.
